Summit County Ohio Reaches Voters

JOHN LEWIS NEVER GAVE UP THE FIGHT FOR VOTING RIGHTS AND NEITHER ARE WE.
Our July 18 event was smoked out and has been rescheduled for August 9 at 11 am at the Cuyahoga Falls Amphitheater, 2085 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls
Ohio’s legislature keeps making it more difficult for people to access the ballot box and we’re not having it. Crooked River Action and Indivisible Akron are teaming up to cover the county with voter information and registration opportunities.
We will provide training and material distribution in Cuyahoga Falls and then we’ll fan out across the county to share voting information and assist citizens with voter registration. Participants should dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
The fight to protect voting rights never ends, and right now, we’re witnessing a Jim-Crow-era effort from politicians and their billionaire friends to restrict our freedoms, silence our voices, and consolidate power.
But in America, we choose our leaders. We will decide our future. The same spirit that fueled Selma, Montgomery, and the March on Washington lives on in our unified action.
A core principle behind all our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
We invite volunteers to stay for the sing-along concert Stand. Resist. Sing. Singing in the Spirit of Love immediately following the voter registration event.
